Women's Project - Reusable Menstrual Products

What is this project?!?!

Morrinsville Community House, with the help of our partner organisations, is providing women from low-income families with re-usable menstrual products. This project is open to women from both Morrinsville and Te Aroha.

Why?

#PeriodPoverty. You may have heard this term in the news or social media. Period poverty is a term being used to describe the situation women find themselves in when they cannot afford suitable sanitary items. This is a real challenge for women in our community.
Women who do not have access to quality sanitary items are excluded from meaningful participation in our community. A student could miss up to 250 days of her high-school education.

How can I access products?

While we don't have any set criteria, due to restricted funds, the project aims to support women from low-income families who may struggle to afford the cost of disposable products themselves.

​If you feel this applies to you then we would love to hear from you. We offer women a choice between a menstrual cup or washable cloth pads. Please email [email protected] to discuss options or leave a message at Community House - 07 889 5355.

If you are interested in purchasing a cup for yourself there are many fantastic options at MyCup. They even have a student discount. If you have a student I.D. you can purchase a Kiko cup for only $12 including postage!

How can I support the project?

More funding allows us to purchase more cups! If you would like to support this project you can do so by dropping a donation into Community House (please label the envelope or tell reception it is for the "women's project")​.
